A long list of 6500 unknown individuals, who are yet to be traced for their identities are to face heat for illegally obtaining motion picture, ‘The Expendables’ starring, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The motion picture in question is a super hit and is in huge demand in the whole world for Hollywood lovers and is produced by NU Image Inc.
These 6500 unknown individuals are identified through their Internet Protocol addresses which have been traced by NU Image. They were using the bit-torrent protocol for obtaining an illegal copy of the said movie.
In the bit torrent protocol, a swarm of users simultaneously download and upload pieces of digital file so that it is easy for all of them to get its copy even when the users are using a low bandwidth internet connection. The bit torrent protocol makes use of the bandwidth in a better way to make the download fast.
NU Image Inc is a Columbia based corporation and develops, produces and distributes the motion pictures.
Thomas N. Dunlop, the attorney on behalf of NU Image filed the six paged complaint in the US District Court in District of Columbia. The complaint mainly discusses the effect of file sharing through bit torrent protocol while in another instance; the company has vowed to present the names and addresses of the 6500 unknown individuals in the amended complaint which will be submitted later after investigation.
Dunlop has proposed that the court should enjoin each defendant in question for infringing the copyrighted material and making it available to thousands others. A proper compensation has been pledged in this regard against each individual apart from the award of the attorney’s fees. The complaint was filed on 1st February.
